Chevy Colorado Check Engine Light Reset. Asked by willycal in Plymouth MA on. In some cases you need to pull over immediately to prevent damage while in others you merely need to tighten you gas cap next time you stop in order to reset the service engine soon light. For example if the cause of your check engine light coming on was a loose gas cap if its tightened the light will turn itself off. Fill it drive about a mile and restart engine light out.
Each of the codes can then be reset which will turn the associated light off. I disconnected the negative side of the battery to try and clear it and get it to co re appear it was on instantly again but with no code on the cluster. Last night i started my truck the check engine light came on no code showed up.
Once it stops flashing the maintenance light reset is complete.
